Adapta World Rally Team have signed a contract to become a Manufacturer Team in the 2009 WRC

Adapta WRT signed a contract today with the Subaru WRT to become a MT in 2009, according to norsk-rally.com. The agreement is for all the 10 European WRC events in 2009, and there is also an option for Adapta to contest Argentina and Australia with these two events being jointly co-ordinated by SWRT and the AWRT.

Adapta team principle Morten Ostberg commented:

With today's signiture it is the final and definitive agreement."

The agreement will see the AWRT use two Subaru S14 WRC's next year as an M2 team and they will look after the cars on the 10 European events. If the team can raise the finance for the two overseas events, then there would be a joint co-operation between SWRT and AWRT, with SWRT responsible for the logistics and AWRT would look after the cars on the events.

The cars will be serviced in the same area as the SWRT and they will share the same hospitality suite. Adapta and SWRT will share their technical expertise and parts knowledge to form a common pool of knowledge. AWRT engineers will focus on their own cars during events.

Mads Ostberg is already confirmed as one of the drivers and will also contest the Norwegian Rally Championship as well next year in a S12b of which the team have two. A teammate has yet to be decided upon but the team state they are looking at both Norwegian and foriegn candidates.

If the team fail to recruit a second driver then, as part of the agreement, Mads will run in the SWRT instead, with the car being run by Adapta.
