2009 (IRC) Intercontinental Rally Challenge draft calendar has been released

According to the website turbomagazine.be the 2009 IRC draft calendar has been leaked and it includes 12 events based on four continents.

The Safari Rally returns with new events such as Monte Carlo, Rally Japan, Rally Scotland and an event from Brazil in March being included also. The official calendar is expected to be announced on Monday 24th November.

Juho Hanninen has been offered a seat in the Skoda Fabia Super 2000 for 2009

Juho Hanninen has apparently been offered a drive by Skoda Motorsport in the Fabia S2000 for the 2009 season, according to autosport.cz.

Hanninen, who won this year’s IRC Rally Russia, was testing the Skoda super 2000 recently in Austria and suffered a major accident by putting the car off into trees. It appears there… Continue reading

Marcus Gronholm could have replaced Francois Duval for Wales Rally GB

Malcolm Wilson wished to place Marcus Gronholm in the Stobart Focus for Wales Rally GB had Francois Duval elected to not take part, according to autoklub.pl.

Duval confirmed this in an interview with RTBF last week when he was testing Pieter Tsjoen’s Focus just after the Condroz Rally. He was contemplating not competing again after the accident in Japan… Continue reading
