Citroen to remain in WRC and are developing a S2000 car according to Dani Sordo

Posted by RallyScott 30 July, 2008

In an article on WRC is Free, Dani Sordo has stated to a Spanish website that Citroen are developing a new car in accordance with the new WRC technical regulations. It isn't clear what model of Citroen is being developed but some photo-shopped images appeared a number of months ago suggesting a C3 S2000. This news would appear to quell rumours of Citroen's imminent withdrawal from WRC and switch to DTM.

Sordo's quote:

The only thing that I know it is that they prepare a new car, and the truth is that I believe that they will continue. I think that the championship is well, and that there is a good level and the many cars. I do not see a great crisis, although one always speaks about that. Certain mark would not come any more, but already arrived Suzuki, each rally is better, new Subaru… and the insurance which will arrive more marks. Super a 2000 with turbo it is the same thing as a “world rally because”, there is not much change. I precisely do not know what they want to do with the technical payment, but it is clear that cheaper is the car, more marks will come. Another thing is that then the costs will go up again because each one will invent things which prove always very expensive.

What a Citroen S2000 may look like, although unlikely
