Donegal Harvest Stages Rally 2008 Results: Patrick Elliott wins as Kevin Lynch suffers a massive crash in his Subaru S12b

Patrick Elliott won an action packed Nebitt Arms Hotel Harvest Rally to cap a fine year after winning the Dunlop National championship a couple of rounds ago.
Kevin Lynch was expected to be the man to beat and he was leading comfortably until SS3 where he had a monster accident which appeared to destroy his Subaru Impreza S12B. He got out of phase over a bump on a very narrow section of road which made him nudge a bank at high speed causing the car to barrel roll into a field.
Lynch's spectacular accident left the way clear for Elliott who wasn't seriously challenged after that on the Ardara based event. Kevin Barrett brought his Subaru WRC home in second despite being in considerable pain after a jump on SS8. Seamus Leonard, who had been second for most of the day, had to slow towards the end of the rally due to an overheating engine and eventually finished third.
Gary McPhillips won a very competitive two wheel drive category in his Escort and finished 6th o/a. Danny McBride was first in Group N in his Evo Lancer in 7th. Irish JWRC star Shaun Gallagher was competing in his Citroen C2 S1600 but crashed out on SS5.
