Subaru Rally Team USA Driver Ken Block To Grow a "Mo" in Support of Movember Charity Event
(October 17, 2008) Subaru Rally Team USA (SRT USA) driver Ken Block will proudly support "Movember", an annual charity event committed to raising money and awareness for men's health and the fight against prostate cancer. Movember challenges men (Mo Bros) to grow a Mo (Aussie slang for moustache) for one month only, November, as a symbol in support of fighting men's health issues.
Subaru Rally Team USA will support Ken Block's efforts by featuring Movember logos on his 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car at this weekend's Lake Superior Performance Rally, the final round of the 2008 Rally America National Championship. SRT USA is also further supporting Block's involvement in this cause by making a donation on his behalf.
Movember was created to combat men's lack of awareness about the very real health issues they face. Many feel they have to be tough - "a real man" - and are reluctant to see a doctor about an illness or to go for regular medical checkups. The aim of Movember is to change these attitudes and make men's health fun by putting the Mo back on the face of American men while raising some serious funds for the number one men's health issue, prostate cancer.
At the start of November guys register with a clean-shaven face and have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache, while raising money that is donated directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation which will use the funds for high-impact research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the US with one in six American men developing the disease and more than 28,000 men dying of the disease every year. Since Movember's inception more than $29 million has been raised globally for prostate cancer research, including $740,568 raised in the United States last year. Movember is the biggest international event supporting prostate cancer.
Block commented:
Generally, I have some hair on my chin and eliminate the hair below my nose. But, for this great cause, I am glad to switch up my facial hair priorities for the month. I have never actually grown a mustache, so this if going to be a new experience for me!"
HOW TO DONATE:
Movember is very proud to be teaming with the Prostate Cancer Foundation in the US and all donations made will go directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. The Prostate Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

About Movember:
Movember, an Australian non-profit organization, was born in 2003 when a couple of Australian mates were enjoying a beer at a small bar in Melbourne and decided two things – men's health issues needed a forum and the moustache was in dire need of a comeback. Their goal was to create a campaign that joined like-minded individuals while raising money for charity and having fun along the way.
Since 2003, Movember has turned into a truly global movement. In 2007, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, and Spain joined their Aussie counterparts by participating in the campaign. Since Movember's inception, almost 200,000 Mo Bros have sported a Mo and more than $29 million has been raised globally for prostate cancer research, including $740,568 raised in the United States last year. Movember is the biggest international event supporting prostate cancer.
