Kris Meeke in scintillating form on 2008 Deutschland Rallye shakedown

Posted by RallyScott 14 August, 2008

Kris Meeke was in devastating form on the Rally Germany shakedown today as he was reporedly 4s faster than anyone in the S1600 A6 class, which includes all the top JWRC runners. Meeke, in the Munaretto run ex-Sandell Clio S1600, was only able to confirm his entry a few weeks ago after securing the necessary funds to compete.

Rallye Deutschland is one of Kris' favourite events, having won the JWRC category here in 06 after overcoming a two minute time loss due to a puncture. He was second JWRC in 2005.

Kris stated on his website:

It’s fantastic to be heading back to compete at that level again,” he said. “There are a few guys (Ogier, Prokop and Burkart) around in the JWRC at the moment who are being tipped as the next big thing, so it will be good to see how my times compare against them.

But I won’t have the pressure of having to think about championship points on my mind like the others which is always great on an event. My plan is to go and drive at my level and take it from there. I’ve had a first and second place in the JWRC in Germany so I have fond memories of the event, but I’m sure the stages will have changed a bit since then.”
