Phillip Morrow will be in his own Mitsubishi Evo 9 for the Toddsleap.com Ulster Rally 2008
Morrow, who was sensationally sacked by Mitsubishi UK the other week, will take up his Ulster entry and use the Evo 9 he used to win the Evo Challenge last year. In an article in the Belfast Telegraph Morrow states he is determined to be there to prove to Mitsubishi UK that he is not a crasher.
Gordon Noble is scheduled to navigate as Morrow's regular co-driver, Daniel Barritt will be competing in New Zealand. It has been suggested that Gwyndaf Evans will partner Wilk's in the second Mitsubishi UK car on the Ulster but nothing has been made official.
Morrow said in the Belfast Telegraph:
We are still working on the budget for the rally but I'm determined to be there. Iwant to show Mitsubishi what Iam capable of. I'm not a crasher by reputation, as my six wins in the Evo Challenge last season prove, but these things happen in rallying. It is the nature of the sport.
It was devastating to be dropped by the team after working so hard over the past four years to earn the works drive. I don't know what the future holds for me but for the moment I'm just focusing on putting the pieces together to allow me to do the Ulster Rally."
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UK team boss Paul Brigden has revised his comments he made to Autosport about Evo Challenge drivers not being up to the mark. He stated, subsequently to Autosport, that the comments were made in the heat of the moment, following a fraught Isle of Man. He added that the comments were not aimed at everybody and this year's series has brought some serious talent through.
