Sinuous Corsican roads pose a different challenge for SWRT on the Rallye de France

The French round of the World Rally Championship, on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, is the second asphalt rally in as many weekends and also the last tarmac outing of the 2008 WRC season. Immediately following Rally Catalunya, it forms the second half of the asphalt double-header as the season nears its finale.

Subaru WRT to run a third works car for possibly Markko Martin or Xavier Pons on the remaining asphalt WRC rounds
Autosport magazine state that Subaru will run three works Subaru Impreza S14 WRC’s in Corsica and Catalunya. Autosport state their sources within the team have confirmed the three car team.

Petter Solberg competed in the WRC rounds Greece and Turkey with a broken rib
Petter Solberg has just revealed to crash.net that he competed in Greece and Turkey whilst suffering from a broken rib. The break was only diagnosed after Turkey as Solberg had been complaining of pain. This resulted in Petter having to alter his training programme but he now states he is back to full training and is fighting fit for Finland.

Martin Prokop is doing the South Estonian Rally but no sign yet of Markko Martin
Martin Prokop is on the entry for the South Estonian Rally in a Citroen C2 S1600 but there is no sign yet of Markko Martin on the entries received list. SWRT had expressed a desire to participate if a S14 could be sourced for Martin, as the team are keen to get some mileage before Finland an event which would show up any lack of pace. Xevi Pons is trying to sort a deal for Rallye de Catalunya 2008 in a SWRT S14 WRC
Spaniard Xevi Pons is trying to sort a deal to drive a works Subaru S14 WRC on his home round Rally Spain later this year. Subaru managing director Richard Taylor stated, “It could happen but nothing is definite”.
Pons drove a third works Subaru in the latter half of last season but found the S12B difficult to drive and suffered a number of crashes. There was speculation he would drive a works… Continue reading

Subaru S14 first test on tarmac with Markko Martin in Italy
Subaru are currently conducting their first asphalt test in Italy with Markko Martin according to http://www.wrcisfree.com/posts/2008/06/19/674-la-nouvelle-impreza-sur-l-asphalte The test is four days long.
