The Chase - On-board with Toni Gardemeister as he follows Brice Tirabassi on SS11 Rallye de France - Tour de Corse

During the Tour de Corse there was one clip of on-board footage which was rather entertaining to watch.

It was a conversation between Toni Gardemeister and his co-driver Tomi Tuominen about Brice Tirabassi’s driving. They had just been passed by Tirabassi on SS11, after having fuel pressure problems during, but got going again and set about chasing Tirabassi.

2008 Rallye de France - Tour de Corse Shakedown times: Duval quickest in the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team Focus RS WRC08

Francois Duval just edged Loeb and Sordo during today’s shakedown stage in Corsica. Duval recorded a time of 3m44.9s on the 6.1km stage to state his intentions for this rally which he firmly believes he can win.

Francois Duval M-Sport BP Abu Dhabi team asphalt test Corsica ahead of the Tour de Corse

Francois Duval began testing at the weekend in Corsica for the first time this season as a senior member of the M-Sport squad. Ford will be in Corsica for most of the week with Hirvonen testing today and tomorrow, then it’s the turn of the customer cars.

Duval commented on the Corsican test in his website:

Conrad Rautenbach and Sebastien Ogier prepare for Tour de Corse by competing on the Rallye National de Corte 2008

Conrad Rautenbach and Sebastien Ogier prepared for Rallye de France by competing on a national rally in Corsica over the weekend. Rautenbach was driving his PH Sport Citroen C4 WRC while Ogier competed in his regular PH Sport Citroen C2 S1600.

Rautenbach finished second to Pascal Trojani who was driving a BSA Peugeot 307 WRC and was never headed throughout the rally. Third… Continue reading

Xavier Pons could join Brice Tirabassi in a two car Subaru “B” team for Rally Spain and Tour de Corse

According to French magazine Auto-hebdo it appears that Xavier Pons might join Brice Tirabassi for the two tarmac WRC rounds, Rally Catalunya and Tour de Corse, in a second works Subaru. This could perhaps form a sort of Subaru “B” team for these events.

Pons had been linked to a drive with the Subaru WRT by Autosport the other week with Richard Taylor stating that it would make sense for Pons to compete in Catalunya.
