Carlos Sainz may become a leading figure of VW Motorsport’s WRC programme with Dani Sordo linked to drive the Scirocco WRC

According to Spanish website marca.com states that Carlos Sainz could be the leading figure (team principal) of the VW Motorsport WRC opperation if Volkswagen decide to commit to the 2011 World Rally Championship as is widely believed. Current Citroen factory driver Dani Sordo has been linked to a drive with the team.

Key VW Motorsport figures at Rallye Deutschland while Citroen employees sighted at latest DTM race at Nurburgring
Senior Volkswagen personnel were present at Rally Germany last weekend as reported by rallye-magazin.de. Michel Bernard and Uwe Balds, two senior figures from the VW Motorsport department, were present. Uwe Balds is responsible for press activities at VW Motorsport.
This visit adds further speculation that VW will commit to a WRC programme, incorporating the new regs, after VW motorsports boss Kris Nissen visited Rally Finland earlier in the month.

VW may be interested to join the WRC as sports chief Kris Nissen was in Finland
Kris Nissen of Volkswagen was in Finland at the rally and had a meeting with ISC CEO Simon Long as well as the manufacturer team leaders, according to rallye-magazin.de.
Nissen asked the team bosses about the future marketing prospects and new technical regulations. Nissen’s presence was taken as indication that VW are seriously considering the WRC.
