Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally 2008: Patrick Elliott wins as Niall Maguire punctures on last stage

Patrick Elliott was a lucky winner in the latest round of the Irish Dunlop National Rally Championship, the Stonethrowers Rally. The rally had been lead for most of the day by Maguire only to puncture on the final stage, with 5kms left, to hand victory to Elliott. Elliott had got the gap down to half a second going into the final stage, after Maguire had eased back during the afternoon stages.

Kevin Barrett was third with PJ McGrath 4th, and Aaron McHale 5th after dropping from third with transmission problems. Alan Ring claimed Group N after Keith Cronin ended up in a ditch and retiring after initially leading the category. Terance O'Shaughnessy was top two wheel man in 7th o/a.
