Guy Wilks is said to be close to announcing very soon that he will be driving the third works Subaru on ten rounds of next year's World Rally Championship, according to Portuguese website Autosport.pt.
Wilks has been trying to raise funds this year, to land the third SWRT seat, through his Guy Wilks 500 Club 'Back the Brit' campaign. He was trying to secure £2 million pounds for the seat and is said to have reached about half of the amount so far.
Meanwhile, Wilks was contesting the Coffs Coast Rally in Australia this weekend in the Honda Civic R3. He was lying a highly impressive 3rd o/a until he crashed out on the second day after hitting a tree stump at high speed and rolling.
Also, Wilks has been excluded again from the Trackrod Rally and the results remain provisional until the appeal process has been exhausted. If the result isn't overturned by Wales Rally GB then Wilks and the Mitsubishi UK squad are unlikely to contest the event as they cannot win the BRC otherwise.
So the due announcement about the works Subaru drive for Guy Wilks would make up for the heartache he has had to endure this season.
